About the Series

A growing global health financing crisis threatens progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to the health and well-being of women, children, and adolescents. Between 2023 and 2025, Official Development Assistance (ODA) for health is projected to decline by up to 40%, with significant reductions expected across maternal, newborn and child health, and family planning. The funding contractions risk reversing decades of progress, widening health disparities, and undermining global commitments to equity and universal health coverage.

As fiscal space tightens and donor priorities shift, strengthening domestic resource mobilization and advancing innovative financing approaches have become essential to protect equity, sustain investments, and safeguard universal health coverage. In response, the Global Leaders Network for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health (GLN), chaired by H.E. President Cyril Ramaphosa and supported by the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH), has launched a webinar series to promote coordinated action and shared learning. The series explores practical strategies to expand domestic health financing, highlights country-led successes and innovative models, and helps translate high-level political commitments into sustained investments that advance health outcomes for women, children, and adolescents.
